Eula J. Hawkins, 87 of Staunton, passed away Saturday, November 14, 2020, at Heritage Health in Staunton. She was born on April 8, 1933 in Conway, Arkansas, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Hubert and Fannie (Graham) Evans.
She married Murlin A. Hawkins on July 14, 1954, and he passed away on October 27, 2017. She worked as a bank teller at First National Bank in Grand Tower, IL. She was a member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Staunton, past president of the Order of the Eastern Star, and past president of the Ladies Golf Association of the Staunton Country Club, as well as a volunteer at Community Hospital of Staunton.
She is survived by her daughter, Paula (Terry) Hale of Staunton; four grandchildren, Heather (Kevin) Goins of Anna, IL, Patrick McLane of Marion, IL, Caleb (Terrie) Hale of Jonesboro, IL, and Zach (Brittney) Hale of Dongola, IL; four great-grandchildren, Madison Goins, Liam Hale, Hannah Hale, and Everett Hale; sister, Jo Underwood (Oleg) of Staunton; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Victor Murlin Hawkins and three brothers, Junior Evans, Frank Evans, and Wendell Evans.
Visitation services will be held from 10 AM to 11 AM on Thursday, November 19, 2020, at Williamson Funeral Home in Staunton. Private family services will be held at Williamson Funeral Home with Rev. Debbie Jo Atkins officiating. Burial will be held at Memorial Park Cemetery in Staunton. Memorials are suggested to St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Staunton.
