Lorraine H. Schroeder, 93, of Litchfield, formerly of Hillsboro, passed away on Thurs., Feb. 4, 2016, at 5:48 a.m. in St. Francis Hospital in Litchfield. She was born on Aug. 7, 1922 in Gillespie a daughter of W. Henry and Helen (Franke) Weyen. She was a veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard and served during WWII.
Lorraine was a member of Mt. Zion Lutheran Church in Litchfield. She volunteered her time with the St. Francis Hospital Auxiliary, Montgomery County Home Extension and was a 4-H Leader. She was a faithful follower of her children and grandchildren’s sporting events.
A very talented seamstress, she made numerous wedding and bridesmaid dresses over the years. She also enjoyed fishing, quilting and was an avid Cardinals baseball fan. She married Carl Henry “Dutch” Schroeder on Oct. 11, 1947, in Zion Lutheran Church in Gillespie. He preceded her in death on Feb. 7, 2008.
She is survived by three sons, Larry (Leslie) Schroeder of Richardson, TX, Scott (Carol) Schroeder and Brad (Shannon) Schroeder, all of Litchfield; three daughters, Lynn (Barry) Byrd of Palm Beach Gardens, FL, Sandy (Mike) Klump of Hillsboro and Lori (Vince) Pierino of Jupiter, FL; brother, Herman (Lucille) Weyen of Decatur; 11 grandchildren, Matthew (Audray) Moran, Jesse (Zach) Mitchell, Matthew (Claudia) Klump, Lyndsy (Michael) Winstead, Tyler Klump, Kevin Schroeder (companion, Mandy Moore), Eric (Jen) Schroeder, Breanne (Eric) Schnabel, Sarah Schroeder, Vinnie and Cassie Pierino; 16 great-grandchildren, Cale, Gavin & Keaton Winstead, Aaron & Isabel Klump, Nolan & Emily Klump, Ruby & Darcy Schnabel, Jordan Schroeder, Cayden, Quinn & Peyton Schroeder, Sophia & Jack Mitchell and Jayden Moran.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; an infant daughter, Leslie; two brothers, Jack Weyen and Harvey “Judge” Weyen; and one sister, Dorothy Niehaus.
Visitation will be held Sunday, February 7, 2016, from 2 to 5 p.m. in Plummer Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Mon., Feb. 8 at 11 a.m. in Mt. Zion Lutheran Church in Litchfield. Pastor Christine Erdmann will officiate. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery in Litchfield.
The family suggests memorials to Mt. Zion Lutheran Church.
