FRIENDS of the Gillespie Library are collecting used books for their annual book sale. Drop boxes are located at Randy’s Markets and at the Gillespie Library. Proceeds from the book sale help to fund programs at the library for children and adults, to update the children’s book collection and to promote the services of the library.
The last day to drop off used books will be Wed. Oct. 18th. The book sale will be held at the First United Methodist Church, 898 W. Broadway in Gillespie on Friday, Oct. 20, from 6 to 8 p.m. with an “Early Bird” admission of $5 for adults and $3 for kids 6-12 and 5-under are free. On Saturday, Oct. 21, the sale will run from 8 a.m. until noon with no admission fee. Books are $1 for hardcovers, 50 cents for softcovers, and 25 cents for children’s books.
Two new features of the annual used book sale include:
- $1 off any book with the discovery of painted rocks (which will to be hidden downtown Gillespie)
- A Private Book Shopping Service for local homebound shut-ins or area residents who plan to be out of town the weekend of the sale. Shut-ins and travelers may send a letter to FRIENDS, P.O.
