LAWSUITS
Rachel Bruhn is suing Charles Lane, Staunton, for damages in excess of $50,000 for injuries she allegedly sustained in a July 1, 2015, traffic crash in Litchfield. According to the suit, Bruhn was operating an eastbound 2008 Pontiac Torrent which was stopped at a traffic light at about 3:14 p.m. on Illinois Route 16 at North Sherman Street in Litchfield when an eastbound 2001 Cadillac Deville driven by Lane drove into the rear of the Bruhn vehicle. The suit alleges Lane was negligent in that he was driving too fast for conditions, failed to keep his vehicle under proper control, failed to keep a proper lookout for other vehicles, failed to reduce the speed of his vehicle as he approached a stopped vehicle and failed to reduce the speed of his vehicle to avoid an accident. Bruhn claims to have suffered injuries to her back and right leg, pain in mind and body, medical expenses and loss of income for which she seeks compensation in excess of $50,000.
Cavalry Spv I, LLC, is suing Tim M. Conway, Staunton, for $21,945.10, plus court costs, that the plaintiff claims is owed on an allegedly defaulted Citibank credit card account.
Cavalry Spv I, LLC, is suing Laura M. Miller, Virden, for $14,213.92, plus cour costs, that the plaintiff claims is owed on an allegedly defaulted Citibank credit card account.
Consumer Collection Management is suing Robert M. and Linda Woods, Staunton, for $11,783.39, plus court costs, that the plaintiff claims is owed for medical bills. The judgment sought includes $5,524.90 allegedly owed to St. John’s Hospital, Springfield, and $6,122.49 allegedly owed to St. Francis Hospital, Litchfield.
Consumer Collection Management is suing John and Dawn Nix, Palmyra, for $47,128.36, plus court costs, allegedly owed for medical bills. The amount sought includes $25,808.27 allegedly owed to St. John’s Hospital, Springfield; $20,773.57 allegedly owed to Carlinville Area Hospital; and $325.52 allegedly owed to Macoupin Family Practice Centers.
Clifford Crispens, Litchfield, has filed a forcible entry and detainer complaint against Jennifer J. Stewart, Girard, seeking $2,200 in alleged back rent, plus possession of premises located in the 200 block of North Sherman Street in Girard.
Jesse King, Sawyerville, has filed a forcible entry and detainer complaint against Jeffery Stoops, Sawyerville, seeking $680 in alleged back rent, plus possession of residential premises located in the 400 block of Pfahler Street in Sawyerville.
Central Illinois Realty has filed a forcible entry and detainer complaint against Breanna Livingston, Michael Livingston and Alexander Livingston, Virden, seeking $1,035.20 in alleged unpaid rent, plus court costs, attorney fees and possession of premises located at 28 Whispering Pines in Virden.
Central Illinois Realty has filed a forcible entry and detainer complaint against Robin McGown and Debra McGown, Virden, seeking $6,043.50 in alleged unpaid rent, plus court costs, attorney fees and possession of premises located in the 800 block of Jones Street in Virden.
Gregory S. Burcham, Carlinville, has filed a forcible entry and detainer complaint against Bob and Ashley Beard, Carlinville, seeking $678 in alleged back rent, plus damages and possession of residential premises located in the 400 block of Loomis Lane in Carlinville.
Linda Mahan, Girard, has filed a forcible entry and detainer complaint against Tamera Damm Waters, Girard, for $1,300 in alleged back rent, plus possession of residential premises located in the 400 block of South Sixth Street, Girard.
SMALL CLAIMS
Carlinville Area Hospital is suing Donald E. and Kimberly J. Wietes, Carlinville, for $1,291.66, plus court costs, for allegedly unpaid medical bills.
Carlinville Area Hospital is suing David Barnes, Palmyra, for $3,235.88, plus court costs, for allegedly unpaid medical bills.
Consumer Collection Management is suing Joseph W. and Ashley N. Robbins, Gillespie, for $4,705.57, plus court costs, allegedly owed for medical bills. The amount sought includes $3,794.50 allegedly owed to St. Francis Hospital, Litchfield, and $911.07 allegedly owed to St. John’s Hospital, Springfield.
Consumer Collection Management is suing Brandon Robert Texier, Carlinville, for $5,528.07, plus court costs, allegedly owed for medical bills. The amount sought includes $4,161.62 allegedly owed to Carlinville Area Hospital, $1,186.35 allegedly owed to St. Francis Hospital, Litchfield, and $180 allegedly owed to JCH Medical Group.
Midland Funding, LLC, is suing Carrie Vannatta, Carlinville, for $1,455.20, plus court costs, that the plaintiff claims is owed on an allegedly defaulted Synchrony Bank credit card account.
Cavalry Spv I, LLC, is suing Rhonda L. Alger, Carlinville, for $2,460.47, plus court costs, that the plaintiff claims is owed on an allegedly defaulted Citibank credit card account.
Cavalry Spv I, LLC, is suing Cassandra L. Warren, Carlinville, for $960, plus court costs, that the plaintiff claims is owed on an allegedly defaulted loan executed in August 2013 with Springleaf Financial Service, Sprinfield, for $796.36 at an interest rate of 35.99 percent.
Cavalry Spv I, LLC, is suing Tracy Reese, Girard, for $1,457.99, plus court costs, that the plaintiff claims is owed on an allegedly defaulted Synchrony Bank/Home Design credit card account.
Cavalry Spv I, LLC, is suing Susan C. Allen, Staunton, for $847.81, plus court costs, that the plaintiff claims is owed on an allegedly defaulted Citibank credit card account.
Cavalry Spv, LLC, is suing Deborah Griffin, Brighton, for $986.28, plus court costs, that the plaintiff claims is owed on an allegedly defaulted GE Capital Retail Bank/Walmart credit card account.
FELONIES
Gary G. Loveless, 59, Carlinville, is charged with participating in the manufacture of less than 15 grams of methamphetamine in connection with a May 11 incident in Carlinville.
Leland T. Scoggins, 32, Bunker Hill, is charged with obstructing justice in connection with a May 12 incident in Bunker Hill during which he allegedly destroyed physical evidence by tossing a capsule of heroin from a truck window while a Bunker Hill police officer was investigating the alleged use and possession of a controlled substance.
Joshua M. Burney, 26, Bunker Hill, is charged with possession of a controlled substance in connection with a May 12 incident in Bunker Hill during which he allegedly possessed less than 15 grams of heroin.
Nicholas J. Taylor, 20, Staunton, is charged with possession of methamphetamine and possession of a controlled substance in connection with a May 17 incident during which he allegedly was found to be in possession of less than five grams of methamphetamine and less than 15 grams of a substance containing cocaine during a traffic stop executed by a Macoupin County Sheriff’s deputy executed at about 12:48 a.m. on Main Street at Laurel Street in Staunton. Taylor also faces a traffic charge for allegedly driving on a suspended driver’s license.
MISDEMEANORS
Andrayus N. Cross, 47, Staunton, is charged with domestic battery in connection with a May 10 incident during which he allegedly caused bodily harm by striking his girlfriend in the face with his open hand.
Kristain J. Bottoms, 39, Carlinville, is charged with criminal damage to property and unlawful use of weapons in connection with a May 11 incident in Virden during which Bottoms allegedly cut a hole in a tire belonging to another person and possessed a set of brass knuckles.
Charles M. Joslin, 64, Virden, is charged with domestic battery in connection with a May 14 incident during which he allegedly caused bodily harm by striking his wife on her arm with his open hand.
Victoria L. Vega, 23, Litchfield, is charged with obstructing identification in connection with a May 11 incident during which she allegedly provided a false name to a Carlinville police officer who had lawfully detained her.
Derrick D. Courier, 19, Virden, is charged with battery in connection with May 6 incident in Virden during which he allegedly made physical contact of an insulting or provoking nature by pushing a female on her back and grabbing her by her neck.
Amanda L. Neel, 30, Carlinville, is charged with criminal damage to property in connection with a May 13 incident in Carlinville during which she allegedly caused less than $500 in damage to a window at a residence.
TRAFFIC
Dawn E. Carr, 38, Arnold, Mo., is charged with driving under the influence of alcohol in connection with a May 13 incident at about 9:16 p.m. in the southbound lanes of Interstate 55 near mile marker 48. Additionally, Carr faces traffic charges for allegedly speeding 21 to 25 miles per hour in excess of the posted speeding limit, along with alleged improper lane usage and illegal transportation of alcohol by a driver.
Brandon M. Lyons, 36, Gillespie, is charged with driving under the influence of alcohol in connection with a May 14 incident at about 1:31 a.m. on East First North Street at North East Street in Carlinville. In addition, Lyons faces traffic charges for allegedly disregarding a stop sign and making an improper turn signal.
John G. Crocks, 54, Girard, is charged with driving under the influence of alcohol in connection with a May 13 incident at about 11:53 a.m. on Country Club Road east of Henry Road. In addition, Crocks faces a traffic citation for improper parking on a roadway.

Staunton man found guilty of criminal sexual assault

BenGil StaffA verdict was rendered on Tuesday in about 35 minutes for a Staunton man who was found guilty of criminal sexual assault.
Dillard Dehart Jr., 66 of Staunton, was charged with the offense on February 17, 2022, after his niece had accused him of the offense and had secretly recorded parts of the offense.
The secretly recorded videos were played for the jury, according to Macoupin County State’s Attorney Jordan Garrison who called multiple witnesses and tried the case.
Sentencing for Dehart Jr. is set for October 4, 2023.
