LAWSUITS

Patrick D. Pintar, Gillespie, has filed a forcible entry and detainer complaint against Sherri Martin, Gillespie, seeking $2,666 in alleged back rent, plus possession of residential premises located in the 700 block of Adams Street in Gillespie.

Tim Loveless, Gillespie, has filed a forcible entry and detainer complaint against Robert L. Recknagel and Rebecca Fenley, Benld, seeking $425 in alleged back rent, plus possession of residential premises located in the 100 block of Central Avenue in Benld.

SMALL CLAIMS

Capital One is suing Nicholas Miller, Carlinville, for $2,384.74, plus court costs, that the defendant allegedly owes on a defaulted credit card account.

Jim Meisenheimer, Bunker Hill, is suing Nick Tervasi, Bunker Hill, for $770.80 that the plaintiff claims is owed for rebuilding a roadway, rocking a road and grading.

Hendricks Financial, Inc., Virden, is suing Dave and Christy Lomelino, Modesto, seeking $3,483.07, plus court costs and attorney fees, that the plaintiff claims is owed on two defaulted retail installment contracts executed Oct. 29 and Nov. 7, 2013, for the purchase of home furnishings.

Resurgence Capital, LLC, is suing Elizabeth and Vic Shoemaker, Carlinville, for $8,378.59, plus court costs and $350 in attorney fees, that the plaintiff claims is owed on a $20,160 auto loan executed in 2006.

FELONIES

David A. Rhodes, 42, Sawyerville, is charged with possession of methamphetamine and possession of methamphetamine-making materials in connection with a Dec. 15 incident during which he allegedly possessed less than five grams of a substance containing methamphetamine, along with sulfuri acid, coffee filters and cold packs that he allegedly intended to use in the manufacture of methamphetamine.

Joseph W. Burdell, 45, Staunton, is charged with aggravated battery, aggravated assault and resisting a peace officer in connection with a Dec. 19 incident in Staunton. According to the complaint, Burdell allegedly kicked a Staunton police officer in the left knee and lower leg, rushing toward two Staunton police officers with his fists clenched, and refusing to place his hands behind his back when ordered to do so by arresting officers.

Jade D. Winchester, 27, Mount Olive, is charged with possession of methamphetamine in connection with an Oct. 13 incident in Mount Olive during which she allegedly possessed less than five grams of a substance containing methamphetamine.

Katherine J. Ellington, 36, Mount Olive, is charged with criminal damage to state-supported property in connection with a Dec. 17 incident during which she allegedly caused less than $500 in damage to a flower pot belonging to the city of Mount Olive.

Margaret Dickerson, 33, Springfield, is charged with two counts of aggravated driving under the influence of alcohol and one count of driving on a revoked driver’s license in connection with a Dec. 23 incident on Interstate 55 in Macoupin County. The DUI charges, one of which accuses Dickerson of driving under the influence of alcohol in combination with another drug or substance, were elevated to felonies due to previous convictions for DUI on Dickerson’s record from Sept. 9, 2005, and March 9, 2009, both in Sangamon County. The driving on a revoked license was elevated to a felony due to previously convictions for driving on a revoked or suspended license from Nov. 4, 2005, March 24, 2006, and July 30, 2010, all on Sangamon County. In addition to the felony charges, Dickerson faces traffic charges for alleged improper lane usage and illegal transportation of alcohol by a driver.

William D. Gray, 35, Staunton, is charged with driving on a revoked driver’s license in connection with a Dec. 5 incident on Pearl Street in Staunton. The charge was elevated to a felony due to previous convictions for driving on a revoked or suspend license on Gray’s record from May 19, 2003, June 26, 2008, and June 27, 2008, in Macoupin County, and May 16, 2007, in Madison County.

MISDEMEANORS

Carrie M. Eichen, 39, Gillespie, is charged with battery in connection with a Dec. 22 incident in Gillespie during which she allegedly pulled another woman’s hair.

TRAFFIC

Whitney N. Brown, 30, Gillespie, is charged with driving under the influence of alcohol in connection with a Dec. 16 incident on Stagecoach Road. In addition, Brown faces a traffic charge for allegedly failing to reduce the speed of her vehicle to avoid an accident.

Nick R. Haegle, 33, Staunton, is charged with driving under the influence of alcohol in connection with a Dec. 12 incident on West Main Street at Old Route 66 in Mount Olive. Haegle also faces a traffic charge for allegedly making an improper turn signal.

Isaac J. Page, 18, Staunton, is charged with two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol in connection with a Dec. 19 incident on Illinois Route 4 at North Dorsey Street in Benld. Page also was cited for alleged illegal transportation of alcohol by a driver and improper parking on a roadway. He previously was charged with a misdemeanor for unlawful consumption of alcohol by a person under the age of 21 in connection with the same incident.

Justin Frisse, 23, Collinsville, is charged with two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol in connection with a Dec. 20 incident on Illinois Route 4 at Central Avenue in Benld. Frisse also faces a traffic charge for alleged improper lane usage.

Kyle D. Burg, 53, Gillespie, is charged with driving under the influence of alcohol in connection with a Dec. 19 incident on East Elm Street at Clay Street in Gillespie. Burg also faces traffic citations for operation of an uninsured motor vehicle, driving on an expired driver’s license, operating a vehicle with a faulty license plate light and improper lane usage.

Staunton man found guilty of criminal sexual assault

A verdict was rendered on Tuesday in about 35 minutes for a Staunton man who was found guilty of criminal sexual assault.

Dillard Dehart Jr., 66 of Staunton, was charged with the offense on February 17, 2022, after his niece had accused him of the offense and had secretly recorded parts of the offense.

The secretly recorded videos were played for the jury, according to Macoupin County State’s Attorney Jordan Garrison who called multiple witnesses and tried the case.

Sentencing for Dehart Jr. is set for October 4, 2023.
