Arthur Dominic (Buzz) Bazzarone will celebrate his 90th birthday on June 6, 2017. He was born in Chicago to Dominic and Aurora (Berutti) Bazzarone and grew up in Sawyerville attending Benld Schools. Buzz married Jessie L. Fraser on July 1, 1950, and she passed away in 2012.
Buzz retired from Shell’s Westhollow Research Center in Houston, Texas in 1989 as a Senior Technical Associate. He was in charge of Shell’s Research Garage where he was responsible for the maintenance and repair of all Westhollow vehicles, including Shell’s research and development test fleet.
Prior to joining Shell, he was a mechanic, body, and fender repairman for Basso and Fassero garages in Benld. He now resides in Gillespie. He is the father of a daughter, Artie (Mike) Herron; grandchildren, Michael Herron and Kelly (Jeff) Bulla; and great-grandchildren, Jack Dominic and Jessie Nicole Bulla.
Buzz is a World War II Veteran who served in the Philippines and on the USS LCI(L) 817-Land Craft Infantry as a Petty Officer 3rd Class Motor Machinist Mate, US Navy, 7th Fleet. He was awarded the American Area Ribbon, the Asia-Pacific Area Ribbon and the WWII Victory Ribbon.
