
The Black Diamond Days committee, a non-profit organization, would like to invite everyone to the old Gillespie Lake this weekend, June 2-4, for their 44th annual festival.
The celebration will include live music, yard game tournaments, a fishing tournament, bounce houses, 50/50 drawings, and food and beverages.
The event opens on Friday at 5 p.m. with live music by The Whiskey River Band starting at 6 p.m. A 50/50 drawing will be held at 8 p.m.
Saturday starts with bass tournament registration at 5:30 a.m. with the beer tent opening later at 12 noon. Washer tournament registration starts at 12:30 p.m. with the tournament getting underway at 1 p.m. Bags tournament registration starts at 2:30 p.m. with play getting underway at 3 p.m.
Live music on Saturday features Blue Moon #7 starting at 2 p.m. and Fat Chance starting at 7 p.m. A 50/50 drawing will be held at 9 p.m. on Saturday.
Sunday concludes the festival with a horseshoe tournament at 3 p.m. Live music will be provided by Starkillers and Ambrosia Moon. Starkillers starts at 12 p.m. with Ambrosia Moon starting at 4 p.m. A 50/50 drawing will be held at 8 p.m. on Sunday.
Due to a late cancellation by the organization’s carnival company, the group will have bounce houses available for the kids and $10 armbands will allow entry to the play areas.
A highlight of the weekend will be the food and beverages available. Food offerings include Fema’s Catering and Barnes Bistro. Fema’s features include pulled pork sandwiches and nachos on Friday, brisket sandwiches and brisket plates with tortellini and bread and butter on Saturday, and jambalaya on Sunday. Fema’s will also have fresh tortellini, mini-tacos, water, soda, and other surprises.
