Elmer Leroy Looper, 87, of Bunker Hill, died at St. John’s Hospital, Springfield, on Sunday, January 14, 2024, at 9:44 pm. He was born October 13, 1936, in Jerseyville, to Elmer O. Looper and Lucille Waters Brown. He married Mary Ann (Hogle) Looper on June 2, 1960, in Cottage Hills.
He retired after having been an inspector for McDonnell Douglas. Elmer was a veteran of the US Army. He enjoyed being with his family, fishing, and camping.
He is survived by his spouse, Mary Ann Looper of Bunker Hill, children, Patrick (Brenda) Looper of Buckeye, AZ, Steven (Lisa) Looper of Gillespie, Timothy Looper of Nashville, TN, grandchildren, Jennifer, Jacob, Brianna, Garet, Dusty, Robert, great-grandchildren, Ava, Alanna, Ryker, Oliver. Elmer was preceded in death by his parents, grandson, Paul Leroy Looper, brother Donald Looper, and sister, Carolyn Sue “Kaye” McDonald.
Friends may call on Thursday, January 18, 2024, at Kravanya Funeral Home in Bunker Hill, from 4:30 pm until 6:30 pm. Funeral services are Thursday, January 18, 2024, at 6:30 pm at Kravanya Funeral Home, Bunker Hill. Graveside services will be on Friday, January 19, 2024, at 10:30 am at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, MO.
