Homecoming returns to Gillespie High School the week of September 18 with a few notable changes to this year’s activities including the homecoming parade and coronation. This year’s theme is ‘where the magic begins’.
This year the homecoming parade will take place Wednesday evening starting at 6:30 p.m. on September 21. The parade will start at the Christian Church and end at Gillespie High School. The change in time and day hopes to allow more attendance.
The second notable change is the day of coronation. It will take place ahead of homecoming week on Saturday, September 17 at 4 p.m. to allow the newly crowned king and queen to be royalty during the weekly celebration. In addition to coronation, Miner man and the high school musical will take place as well and is open to any and all guests. Students can enter for free but guests and parents will be asked to pay $3.
In the past coronation was held ahead of the homecoming dance on the Saturday concluding homecoming week. Despite the change in coronation, the dance remains scheduled for the end of the week on Saturday, September 24.
