Fight the Fight at the Dorchester Picnic
Fight the Fight, a local BenGil business, is looking to earn a commercial spot on the Super Bowl on February 2, 2014 in a contest sponsored by Intuit. The software provider kicked off a contest in late of July that will award one small business with a 30-second Super Bowl XLVIII commercial. The third-quarter ad will likely be seen by more than 100 million viewers.
Fight the Fight is a 50/50 clothing line from which 50% of all profits are donated to individuals who incur, large unexpected medical expenses. To date, the local company has donated over $15k to individuals in need. “We sell great products that have an even better cause behind them,” owner Pete Visintin Jr. said. “We are headquartered in Gillespie, IL.”
Winning this contest would help Fight the Fight grow their brand and following which, in turn, would allow Fight the Fight to donate more to people who need it, and be able to create much needed jobs in the small, local community of BenGil. “You now have the opportunity to help people in need by helping us grow,” Visintin closed.

Contestants, Intuit employees and the general public are encouraged to weigh in with thoughts via Twitter using the hashtag #TeamSmallBiz.
During this year’s Super Bowl contest, Intuit asked applicants to detail their challenges, offer tips and answer questions about their business experiences. Firms that participate the most will increase their chances of being selected as a finalist.
Usually, it’s big-time marketers such as Anheuser-Busch and Pepsi paying for such pricey commercial time. Last year, some 30-second slots sold for more than $4 million each. Intuit — which makes products such as TurboTax and QuickBooks — recruited reality TV personality Bill Rancic and former football coach Jimmy Johnson to promote the contest.
Intuit says it will prepare the winning firm, as well as three runners-up, for national exposure. For instance, it will help them improve their websites and bulk up their telecommunications capabilities.
Leaders in the Intuit Small Business Group will narrow the contenders to 20 semifinalists. Intuit’s more than 8,000 employees worldwide will then be asked to winnow the competition to four finalists.
Intuit will create videos describing each business and will post them on SmallBusinessBigGame.com. Beginning Nov. 11, the public will be asked to vote on which of the four small businesses they find most worthy of the Feb. 2 national airtime.
“This will shine a light on how valuable (small-business owners) are, how important they are and, more importantly, their struggles,” says Rancic. “The end result will change their life.”
