LAWSUITS

Angela Meyers, Carlinville, is suing Kimberlee Wills, also known as Kimberlee Prueet, Carlinville, for damages amounting to less than $50,000 for injuries Meyers claims to have sustained in a Nov. 3, 2013, vehicular collision in Carlinville. According to the suit, Meyers was a passenger in southbound vehicle that was stopped at a stop sign on Plum Street when an eastbound vehicle driven by the defendant allegedly made a left turn off West Main Street onto Plum Street and collided with the vehicle in which Meyers was riding. She seeks a judgment to compensate her for her alleged injuries, pain and suffering, past and future medical expenses, and lost wages. The suit claims the defendant was negligent in that she allegedly failed to keep a proper lookout for other vehicles, failed to keep her vehicle under proper control, failed to adjust the speed and position of her vehicle to avoid the collision, drove on the wrong side of the street, and operated the vehicle while using an electronic device.

Danny Vesper has filed a forcible entry and detainer complaint against Nick Smith and Jill Smith seeking $3,075 in alleged back rent, late fees and damage charges, plus possession of residential premises located in the 200 block of West Osie Street, Gillespie.

David and Kathleen Hawkinson, Girard, are suing FCA US, Inc., damages totaling less than $30,000, claiming the company breached both the written and implied warranties on a 2014 Jeep Cherokee the couple bought in October 2014 from Freedom Chevrolet.  The plaintiffs claim the manufacturer of the vehicle failed or was unable to repair multiple defects after the vehicle was taken in several times for repairs. The alleged defects include a defective electrical system, a defective exhaust, a defective engine, a defective transmission and a defective HVAC system.

Joseph McLain, Benld, is suing Ford Motor Co. for damages totaling less than $30,000, claiming the company breached both the written and implied warranties on a Ford Focus he allegedly purchased for $20,250 in August 2014 from Koetting Ford, Inc., Granite City. McLain’s suit claims the company failed or was unable to repair multiple defects including a defective transmission, defective engine and electrical system, and defective body trim.

St. Francis Hospital, Litchfield, is suing, Michael D. Goehlich, Girard, for $858.04 allegedly owed for medical goods and services.

Capital One Bank is suing David Blevins, Gillespie, for $1,672.17, plus court costs, allegedly owed on a defaulted credit card account.

Capital One Bank is suing Michael Peper, Virden, for $1,841.93, plus court costs, allegedly owed on a defaulted credit card account.

Anderson Hospital, Maryville, is suing Tawney R. Moore, Staunton, for $680.53 allegedly owed for medical goods and services.

Capital One Bank is suing John R. Nibbe, Jr., Virden, for $9,253.24, plus court costs, allegedly owed on a defaulted credit card account.

Cavalry SPV I, LLC, is suing Sandra Whitby, Carlinville, for $2,393.94, plus court costs, allegedly owed on a defaulted Sam’s Club charge account.

Cavalry SPV I, LLC, is suing Jaylena Harding, Carlinville, for $1,145.15, plus court costs, allegedly owed on a defaulted Sam’s Club charge account.

Credit Acceptance Corp. is suing Charles L. Babcock, Raymond, for $7,009.81, plus court costs and $350 in attorney fees, allegedly owed on a defaulted credit card account.

Credit One Bank is suing Emily Miller, Staunton, for $818.25, plus court costs, allegedly owed on a defaulted credit card account.

Midland Funding, LLC, is suing Kevin Link, Brighton, for $1,037.29, plus court costs, allegedly owed on a defaulted credit card account.

Midland Funding, LLC, is suing Toni Lafferty, Brighton, for $3,071.53, plus court costs, allegedly owed on a defaulted credit card account.

Midland Funding, LLC, is suing Silvia Haas, Staunton, for $1,368.74, plus court costs, allegedly owed on a defaulted Walmart credit card account.

Midland Funding, LLC., is suing Lorene Moore, Brighton, for $1,167.61, plus court costs, allegedly owed on a defaulted Fingerhut charge account.

Educap, Inc., is suing Erin Miller and Morgan Bedsinger, both of Palmyra, for $4,171.50, plus court costs and $350 in attorney fees, allegedly owed on a defaulted education loan.

Discover Bank is suing Percy Stewart, Brighton, for $1,774.57, plus court costs, allegedly owed on a defaulted credit card account.

OSF Healthcare Systems is suing Michael Thomas, Gillespie, for $1,199.50, plus court costs, allegedly owed for medical goods and services.

Eyecare of Carlinville is suing Benjamin Pickerill, Raymond, for $661, plus court costs, allegedly owed on an overdue account.

FELONIES

Tammy Weffenstette, 44, Virden is charged with possession of methamphetamine and possession of a controlled substance in connection with an Oct. 30 incident in Virden during which she allegedly possessed less than five grams a of substance containing methamphetamine and a quantity of Alprazolam, a controlled substance.

Judy M. Throne, 45, Bunker Hill, is charged with two counts of aggravated battery in connection with an Oct. 31 incident during which she allegedly kicked one Bunker Hill police officer in his groin and kicked another in his upper torso. In addition, she faces traffic charges of driving under the influence of alcohol, driving on a suspended driver’s license, improper turn signal and illegal transportation of alcohol by a driver.

Christopher W. Gunn, 35, Girard, is charged with possession of methamphetamine in connection with a Nov. 4 incident in Virden during which he allegedly possessed less than five grams of a substance containing methamphetamine.

Bryon L. Dolliger, 48, Wilsonville, is charged with aggravated fleeing and eluding in connection with a Sept. 11 incident during which he attempted to elude a Benld police officer in the 1997 Ford truck he was driving after the officer activated his patrol car’s emergency lights. The criminal information alleges Dolliger disobeyed three traffic control devices while fleeing from the police officer. In addition to the felony, Dolliger faces traffic charges for improper lane usage, reckless driving and three counts of disregarding a traffic control device.

MISDEMEANORS

Zachary R. Finegan, 18, Bethalto, is charged with unlawful consumption of alcohol by an underaged person in connection with a Nov. 1 incident on Illinois Route 16 east of Hornsby Road. in addition, he faces traffic charges for speeding 11 to 14 miles-per-hour over the posted speed limit and illegal transportation of alcohol by a driver.

Nicholas M. Bosoloke, 19, Godfrey, is charged with unlawful consumption of alcohol by an underaged person in connection with a Nov. 1 incident on Illinois Route 16. He also is charged with illegal transportation of alcohol by a passenger.

Jacob D. Skrabacz, 18, Godfrey, is charged with unlawful consumption of alcohol by an underaged person in connection with a Nov. 1 incident on Illinois Route 16. He also is charged with illegal transportation of alcohol by a passenger.

William G. Nix, 46, Carlinville, is charged with criminal trespass in connection with a Nov. 3 incident during which he allegedly entered upon Macoupin County Housing Authority property in Carlinville after being served with a no trespassing warning.

Kelsey E. McKinney, 27, Carlinville, is charged with harassment by telephone in connection with a Nov. 3 incident during which she allegedly made a telephone call to a Carlinville woman with the intent to harass her.

Damian T. Vinson, 23, Brighton, is charged with possession of drug paraphernalia in connection with an Aug. 21 incident during which he allegedly possessed a clear glass smoking device used for smoking cannabis.

Kenneth R. Jones, 23, Milwaukee, Wis., is charged with possession of cannabis in connection with an Aug. 13 incident during which he allegedly possessed 2.5 to 10 grams of a substance containing cannabis.

Lance D. Howard, 41, Brighton, is charged with domestic battery in connection with an Oct. 30 incident during which he allegedly grabbed another male by his shoulder and pushed him into a wall.

Nathan R. Wankerl, 38, New Berlin, is charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of cannabis in connection with an Aug. 14 incident during which he allegedly possessed a brown, red and purple bowl used for smoking marijuana and was in possession of 2.5 to 10 grams of a substance containing cannabis.

TRAFFIC

Dakota R. Millering, 20, Wood River, is charged with two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol in connection with a Nov. 1 incident on Illinois Route 16 at Alward Road. In addition, he faces charges of speeding 15 to 20 miles-per-hour over the posted speed limit and illegal transportation of alcohol by a driver.

Frederick B. Webb, 46, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, is charged with driving under the influence of drugs in connection with a Nov. 4 incident during which State Police troopers stopped the commercial vehicle he was driving in the southbound lanes of Interstate 55 near mile marker 46 at about 10:30 a.m.. Webb faces additional charges for possessing and driving under the influence of a dangerous substance, and failure to keep a log book.

Kaleb B. Huson, 21, Palmyra, is charged with driving under the influence of alcohol in connection with a Nov. 4 incident on North Main Street in Palmyra. He also faces charges of driving with a faulty headlight and illegal transportation of alcohol by a driver.

Staunton man found guilty of criminal sexual assault

A verdict was rendered on Tuesday in about 35 minutes for a Staunton man who was found guilty of criminal sexual assault.

Dillard Dehart Jr., 66 of Staunton, was charged with the offense on February 17, 2022, after his niece had accused him of the offense and had secretly recorded parts of the offense.

The secretly recorded videos were played for the jury, according to Macoupin County State’s Attorney Jordan Garrison who called multiple witnesses and tried the case.

Sentencing for Dehart Jr. is set for October 4, 2023.
