Police Activity: January 8th-15th

SUNDAY, JANUARY 8, 2012

Kyle M. Bauer, 20, Gillespie was arrested for reckless driving, when he nearly hit two pedestrians at the corner of Park and Adams Sts.  He posted bond and was released.

Officer was called to the 100 block of Park Ave. by a mother who said that her daughter was at a residence in the 200 block of Park and refusing to come home.  The daughter was brought to the Police Dept. After some time, the mother came to the Police Dept. and since the daughter did not want to go home, a Children’s Home and Aid worker came to the Police Dept. to interview them.

The 15 year old daughter went home with the mother, providing they speak with a councilor within 24 to 48 hours.

Officers were called to the 500 block of E. Walnut for a domestic between two males that lived there.  The one male called for his father to come pick him up, as no one wanted to press charges.

Officer took a report of child abuse when the father of a child showed the officer where the child had been burnt with a cigarette again.  The child abuse hotline was called and DCFS will conduct an investigation.

Officer was called to the 300 block of E. Oak for a domestic between husband and wife.  Both stated that the other one had battered each other and their 2 yr. old son that the father was holding.  The father left for the night, after both subjects were told if they wanted to file charges to go up to States Attorney’s office Monday.  Child abuse hotline was called and DCFS will conduct an investigation.

Joshua A. Damm, 27, Carlinville was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, after hitting the vehicle in front of him that was turning in the 100 block of N. Macoupin.

MONDAY, JANUARY 9, 2012

Jacqueline M. Everhart, 27, Livingston turned herself in on a warrant out of Macoupin County for failure to appear on a battery charge.  She posted bond and was released.

WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 11, 2012

Danielle L. Ellis, 29, Wilsonville was cited for operation of uninsured motor vehicle.

Susan A. Ballard, 38, Gillespie was cited for improper lane usage.

Officer took a report from a female who was receiving threatening phone calls from an ex-boyfriend.  He was contacted and advised any further calls, charges could be filed.

Officers were called to the 1200 block of S. Macoupin for a possible fight between two male subjects.  When they arrived found that both stated they had been struck. Both were told if they wanted to file charges to go to States Attorney’s office in the morning.  An ambulance was called for one of the males and he was transported to a hospital.

Officer was called to the 500 block of W. Baker for a domestic.  When arriving, he found that it was all verbal.  The male subject along with his daughter left the residence for the rest of the night.

 THURSDAY, JANUARY 12, 2012

Officer was called to the 300 block of Fillmore where a 15 yr. old female from Staunton was babysitting.  It was learned that the juvenile was a runaway.  She was brought to the police dept. where her mother was called to pick her up.  Children’s Home and Aid was called.  A worker from there asked that the mother bring her to Staunton Police Dept. to interview them.

 FRIDAY, JANUARY 13, 2012

Chief was called to the 400 block of Park Avenue where a juvenile was out of control.  An ambulance was called and the juvenile was transported to a hospital.

Wendy A. Crites, 25, Benld was cited for failure to yield at a stop or yield intersection when she slid thru the stop sign at Osie and hit a vehicle, going by on Staunton Road.

Theodore Hopper, 40, Gillespie turned himself in on a warrant out of Macoupin County for failure to appear on a battery charge. He posted bond and was released.

SATURDAY, JANUARY 14, 2012

Officer was called to the 400 block of E. Oak by an elderly lady who heard someone enter her residence at daybreak.  When the officer arrived, he found Anthony P. Forman Jr., 29, Bloomington, IL in the residence.  He had no idea where he was and not sure what town he was in.  After being taken outside to the squad car, the officer could smell alcohol, which was 3 times the legal limit.  Asked how he got to Gillespie, said he walked from Benld. Forman was arrested for disturbing the peace and pedestrian under the influence.

Officers were called to the 100 block of S. Macoupin for a male who had suicidal thoughts.  On arriving, the male advised he does not have suicidal thoughts but he is depressed.  He was brought to the Police Dept. and an employee of Locust Street Resource Center was called.

Officers were called to the police dept., where two females age 16 said that a male touched the side of their vehicle with the front bumper of his vehicle.  There was no damage to the vehicle but when the driver asked him to stop hitting her vehicle, they got into a verbal argument. Austin M. Conlee, 19, Gillespie was cited for disorderly conduct.

SUNDAY, JANUARY 15, 2012

Officer was called to the 500 block of Green St. for a domestic in progress for a female and a male, also living there.  They had both been drinking and arguing, so the male left the residence for the rest of the night.

Officer was dispatched to the 500 block of Park Ave. where a male subject reported his truck stolen.  After getting additional information, it was learned that he loaned the vehicle to a female and has been attempting to contact her to bring the vehicle back.  He, eventually, found out the truck had been impounded by another agency.  He was advised that since he gave the female permission to use the vehicle, that he could not report it as stolen.

Ashley L. Collier, 23, Alton, was cited for operation of uninsured motor vehicle.
