SUNDAY, MAY 20, 2012

Nancy C. Zimmerman, 30, Litchfield was cited for speeding 42 MPH in a 30 MPH zone.

Jessie E. Smith, 19, Benld was cited for no valid registration and passenger under 19 not wearing a seatbelt.

Allison M. Moran, 17, Brighton was cited for failure to wear seat belt.

MONDAY, MAY 21, 2012

Bradley J. Wolff, 32, Litchfield turned himself in on a warrant out of Glen Carbon P.D. for failure to appear on a driving on a revoked license. He posted bond and was released.

Officer was called to the 300 block of Park Ave. to take a theft report.  The owner of the residence advised that someone stole her 4 gas cans and 2 extension cords.

Jesse D. Hammann, 32, Gillespie was arrested on a warrant out of Montgomery County for failure to appear on a seat belt citation..  He was transported to District 18 and released to a Montgomery County deputy.

TUESDAY, MAY 22, 2012

Officers were called for a domestic in progress in the 100 block of S. Macoupin.  When they arrived, the male that called stated his old girlfriend attacked him for no reason.  She started throwing his things out of the apartment.  The female said he grabbed her by the arms and forced her to the ground.  Neither one wanted to file charges.  The male subject left for the night and was told to have an officer go with him to pick up his belongings.

James T. Bertagnolli, 21, Gillespie was cited for failure to wear seat belt.

Officers were called to the 300 block of E. Elm for an irate father who confronted his neighbor for calling the police earlier on his children who was walking thru the complainant’s garden.  Joshua E. Bailey, 33, Gillespie was arrested for disorderly conduct.  He posted bond and was released.

WEDNESDAY, MAY 23, 2012

Officers were called to a business parking lot in the 200 block of Southern St. for a possible fight.  When officers arrived, the two male subjects were gone.  Later, one of the male subjects came to the police department to report that another male had yelled comments about his girlfriend.  They got into a verbal argument so he left the store because he did not want to get into trouble.  The other male was called and told not to have any contact with the other male or charges could be filed.

Johnny W. Cox, 21, Eagerville was cited for failure to wear seat belt.

Michele R. L. Biay, 18, Raymond was cited for failure to wear seat belt.

THURSDAY, MAY 24, 2012

Officer took a report from a female who said that while riding in a vehicle she was in an argument with her husband.  Her 12 year old son who was sitting in between them, tried to protect her when he husband grabbed him around the neck.  She and her son got out of the vehicle and came to the police station.  She signed charges for her son against her husband who was not located at the time. On Friday evening, May 25, 2012 Davy L. Middleton Jr., 31, Gillespie was located in Benld. He was arrested for domestic battery and transported to Macoupin County jail.

FRIDAY, MAY 25, 2012

Officer took a report from a female who had been contacted from her bank, that there were 4 different transactions made on her debit card.  She advised that she did not make those transactions and the bank cancelled her debit card but needed a report.

Clifton W. Gipson, 26, Granite City was arrested on a warrant out of Macoupin County for failure to appear on a traffic charge and for a burglary and theft charge.  He was transported to Macoupin County jail.

Officers were called to the 300 block of W. Pine for a domestic dispute.  When they arrived, found that the female started the verbal argument.  The male left the residence for the rest of the night.

Officers were called to the 400 block of West Baker by a neighbor who was being disturbed by a male and female out in the yard yelling at each other.  Anthony J. Ferrero, 49, Gillespie and Alice A. Ferrero, 32, Gillespie was arrested for disorderly conduct and transported to Macoupin County jail..

SATURDAY, MAY 26, 2012

Rebecca N. Tedrick, 28, Bethalto was cited for speeding 44 MPH in a 30 MPH zone.

Officer took a report from a female who advised there were two tombstones knocked over in the Catholic Cemetery.  The caretaker was notified and advised it had to happen in the afternoon because there was no damage this morning.

Officer took a report from a male who was getting harassing phone calls from a number he did not recognize. When the officer contacted the person calling, it was an ex-girlfriend who was using her son’s phone.  She was told not to call anymore or charges could be filed.

Officer took a report from a female who said her ex-husband will not stop texting her.  The male was called and he advised that he did not want the female calling him either.  Both were advised any more calls and charges could be filed.

Illinois Sheriff’s Association announces 2026 scholarships

The Illinois Sheriffs’ Association announces that it will be awarding over $58,000 in college scholarships throughout the State of Illinois to students wishing to pursue higher education during the 2026-2027 academic year.

The scholarships are to be applied to tuition, books, and fees only. The student must be enrolled full-time at a certified institution of higher learning, full-time. Online learning is also acceptable.

Macoupin County Sheriff Shawn Kahl will be awarding one scholarship in the amount of $500.

There will be no restriction on any applicant by reason of race, age, creed, color, sex, or national origin. The only limitations are applicants must be a permanent Illinois resident and students must be enrolled as a full-time student during the 2026-2027 school year, excluding summer session.

Applications are available at the sheriff’s office located at 215 South East Street, Carlinville or on the ISA website. Students must complete the application, answer the essay question, and return all documentation to the sheriff’s office by March 13.
