Tiller’s painting business wins $2,500 for entrepreneurship prize
DECORAH, Iowa— Luther junior Eric Tiller of Gillespie, Illinois, was named runner-up for the 2015 Daryl and Audrey Erdman Prize for Entrepreneurship. The honor carries an award of $2,500.

The Daryl and Audrey Erdman Prize for Entrepreneurship honors Luther students who create, develop and manage a successful entrepreneurial enterprise. The prize awards a grand prize winner $5,000 and the two runners-up $2,500 each. The Erdman Prize is open to all full-time Luther students regardless of major.
Tiller established the Decorah branch of CollegeWorks Painting. CollegeWorks Painting is an exterior painting business that emphasizes affordable costs and customer service. Tiller said that Luther has helped him through a variety of resources, from experienced advisors to student body networking, and this achievement shows that “adversity is just a stage in the development of a business.”
Tiller, son of Melissa and Tom Tiller of Gillespie, is a 2012 graduate of Gillespie High School. He is majoring in management at Luther College.
Luther is a selective four-year college located in northeast Iowa. The college has an enrollment of 2,400 students and offers a liberal arts education leading to the Bachelor of Arts degree in 60 majors and pre-professional programs.
