Wrapping up the week in the BenGil area with pictures!
Week of June 10

A driver smashed into the outdoor sign at the Zion Lutheran Church in Gillespie repeatedly. The driver, Linda Hazelip, was arrested on scene and charged with 2 counts of driving under the influence, driving while license suspended, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, illegal transportation of alcohol, improper lane usage, and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.

Dairy Queen of Gillespie erected a brand new outdoor sign in front of the building. Also, the establishment replaced the sign on the building as well. The old signs were of the old Dairy Queen logo and were outdated.

Payton Anderson and Laura Halpin posed for a picture in between their double header Monday afternoon. The two, along with Abbie Cline, were chosen to represent Gillespie at the SJR All-Star Classic.

Jim Tilashalski explains to Mickey Robinson that he voted 'yes' on the new water meters 6 months ago. The Benld City Council is going ahead with installing the new direct-read meters after the meeting Monday. It is part of an $85,000 project.

Clint Newingham shows Alderman Jim Alderson how to read the results from the data logger. The council later accepted the proposal from the company to use the capacitors on a 6 month trial basis.

Payton Anderson high-fives Laura Halpin before the inning started while Halpin was on the mound during the SJR All-Star Classic game.
The new DQ sign had 3 great first sayings too!!! “Wecome Shooters” Which for those who didn’t know what that meant, it was for the people visiting from out of town for the State Trap Shoot being held at the Brittany Shooting Park. Also the sign said 1.99 kids meal mondays, we love that too! Plus drinks for $.99!!!
I still fondly remember the time it said “Open During Remodeling”
